The Jeevanjee Park is a restful spot in the heart of Nairobi’s buzz. With tall trees, a few canopies, a few seats and short grass for picnicking Jeevanjee Gardens hosts people from all walks of life. The Jeevanjee Park was donated to residents of Nairobi in 1906 by Alibhai Mullah. This 5-acre recreational park is one of the few green spaces gracing Nairobi City.
This Park has on more than one occasion been faced with extinction when the Nairobi City Council in collaboration with development partners planned to destroy it and in its place build a multistory parking lot, bus terminus and shopping malls.
These plans were shelved following objections raised by Zarina Patel (Jeevanjee 's grand-daughter), Wangari Maathai's Green Belt movement, and other activists. Jeevanjee park is a blessing that should be treasured and enjoyed by city's residence while it is still in existence
