The Last male white rhino on planet earth

Did you know that there is one Northern male white rhino left on planet earth? This rhino is literary the last man on earth when it comes to his species and the outlook isn’t good. Sudan is one of five northern white rhinos in existence.

Armed guards keep watch over Sudan. The last male of his species

He and two other females live on The Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. The other two females live in Zoos. One in USA and the other in the Czech Republic. So how did a population of rhinos dwindle to the point of extinction? The answer is Poaching.

Poaching is so bad that the three remaining rhinos in Kenya are guarded by armed rangers. One rhino horn can sell up to Ksh 10,000,000/= in Vietnam, where people are convinced it can cure every disease including cancer.

In reality, there is nothing ground breaking about rhino horns according to researchers at Ohio University. The researchers say that the rhino horns are in the same makeup as horse hooves. Now to make matters worse, none of the remaining 5 northern white rhinos can breed.

The Northern white rhino is not the first rhino species to be wiped out. In 2011 the western black rhino was officially declared extinct by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature IUCN The world’s largest conservation network.

IUCN says that had there been an implementation of suggested conservation measures for both rhino species, then the situation would have been different today.

BMW X1 REVIEW

Newest BMW isn't an off- roader - but it is a stylish hatchback that sits you just that bit higher. I am a big fan. The X1 is BMW’s first go at making a small-ish off-roader-styled car. But it isn’t an off-roader – even if that’s what it looks like. While some X1s send power to all four wheels – ours (the one that BMW hopes to sell most of), channels it only to the rears.

There are a couple of inches of extra clearance between ground and car, so you’ll cross a field as long as it isn’t boggy. But it isn’t meant to do much more. What it does give is a hiked driving position and a greater sureness that comes with driving something chunkier than a regular saloon. And, except for the greater distance separating the occupants’ behinds and the road, it feels uncannily like a 3-series saloon to drive.

Against what you might think, it’s closer to a 3-series and, despite its X1 name, it doesn’t stand as an extension to the 1-series range. The distance between its front and rear wheels is pretty much exactly the same as a 3-series Touring’s, though the X1 is shorter, narrower and taller overall. This means that, unlike the 1-series, there’s adequate leg room in the rear and the boot is sensibly sized, too. The rear seat is too narrow to squeeze in three grown-ups comfortably, though.

There’s a family look that comes across from its big brother, the latest X5, but from some angles it resembles a 1-series, albeit one that’s scoffed plenty of pies. It rides well, sponging smooth all but the roughest roads although it will pitch and bobble on really rough surfaces.

The steering is weighty and will come as a shock to anyone who’s only ever previously driven a small, light car. But, persist with it and it delivers a rare accuracy and confidence, allowing you to sweep across a string of bends quickly, precisely adjusting the car’s line as you go. Once you’re used to it, it'll help your confidence. The 2.0 diesel has 174bhp and it feels quick enough, not speedy, while its six-speed manual gearbox is precise but needs a firm hand.

Should you buy one? Like a shot. Pitched between the 3-series saloon and 1-series hatchback, prices are fairly pitched and it’s a handy car that promises much. It may not be an off-roader but I like it. A lot!

 WELL DONE MR PRESIDENT

Yesterday my president officially made electricity affordable to each and every Kenyan. Now a midst all this insecurity and terror drama, "Kamwana" is actually doing a very good job. Have you seen the amazing Standard Gauge Railway? Do you know what this means? A promise to reduce the time from Nairobi to Mombasa to only 4 hours. I’m really looking forward to this reality “Kazi naiendelee” Mr president. Kudos!

How to handle “I am not buying today” or am “I am just looking”

According to most car dealers, the most frequently heard objection is “I am just looking” or I am not buying today. I talked to a car dealer and this is the dealer’s response to the objection.  “I am not buying today” or am “I am just looking”.

“Well that’s okay, you know most people don’t buy their first time through. What most people do is, they will come in, they will pick out a car and they will come back tomorrow, or next week some other time and buy the car”

The car dealer says that what has been archived here is an agreement to pick out a car and get a price on it. These are the two things needed to sell a car.

Good luck and good selling.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR CAR:
You have finally found the car you like on cheki.co.ke and made it your own. Now it is time to relax because there is nothing left to do right? Wrong!

As much as we would like not ruin our “clean” self, it is a sad fact that cars wear down, they need repair, and sometimes there is so much work you that feel like taking a hummer and smashing it.

If you have ever felt like beating your car into a pile of scraps, here are a few basics on how to maintain your car.

Check your engine Oil
One of the most important things is to change your oil. Engines are very expensive but oil is pretty cheap. With the synthetic oil you would go a little bit longer between the oil changes.

Check your tires

When your tires are over inflated that means your tires will wear out faster, and if the tires are under inflated that means you will lose more control over the car and your gas mileage will defiantly suffer.

Servicing your automatic transmission

It is a good idea to change the fluid in the transmission every 30,000 miles. If your car has a filter in it you may also want to change the filter. However you may not have to change your filter with some newer car models unless of cause you live in a dusty desert.

The coolant in your cooling system

You don’t want a dirty coolant because it can ruin the whole cooling system. A poorly maintained cooling system can cause the engine to overheat and blow up

Check the battery

Replace your battery at least once or twice a year before your battery goes completely dead and does some serious damage.

So now that you understand a little something about car maintenance, throw away your hummer and remember, a little maintenance can help your car go along way.
